Combine terms and run several searches

Use a combined query when you need several clues to match. Use separate lines when you want a result set for each query.

Combine terms with AND or OR

In Manual interaction mode, type uppercase operators:

• invoice AND delivery finds files matching both terms.
• invoice OR receipt finds files matching either term.

Click Use as operators when Fenn offers it. Check the colored operators before running the search. Without activating that suggestion, the text can be treated as an ordinary query.

When both appear, AND is evaluated before OR. Keep queries simple: parentheses and NOT are not supported. Use the filename exclusion filter when you want to exclude a naming pattern.

Run several independent searches

Paste one query per line, for example:

tropical islands
mountain cabin
snowy forest

Choose Semantic and Images for this example, then click Run 3 searches. Use Shift + Return to add a line manually.

Each non-empty line becomes its own search. Your mode, location, and filters apply to every line. Fenn accepts up to 1,000 searches in one batch.

Review and export

Use the query selector or previous/next controls above the results to move between searches.

Copy all copies files from the currently displayed search. Paste them into a Finder folder when you want copies.

Export all in a bulk search asks for a destination and copies results into numbered folders, one per query. A file can appear in more than one folder when it matches several searches. Your originals remain in place.
