Search your email
Find a detail from an email alongside your documents. Fenn indexes supported email files that are available on your Mac.
Include email
Section titled “Include email”- Open Settings → Sources → File Types.
- Enable Email and the extensions you need, then save.
- In Sources → Folders → Index, add the folder containing your email files.
- If the folder has its own file type settings, make sure Email is included there too.
- Run Index new files.
Common formats include .eml, .emlx, .mbox, and supported Outlook message files. The File Types screen lists the formats available in your version.
Apple Mail
Section titled “Apple Mail”Apple Mail stores local messages under your home folder’s Library/Mail folder. In the folder picker, press Command + Shift + G, enter ~/Library/Mail, and select the appropriate folder.
If Fenn cannot read it, check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access → Fenn, then restart Fenn. Let Mail finish downloading the messages you want to search.
Outlook and other clients
Section titled “Outlook and other clients”Storage differs between app versions. Use a folder containing supported local message files, or export messages to a supported format and add that folder. Selecting an app’s database file is not the same as providing readable email messages.
Try a useful search
Section titled “Try a useful search”Choose Keyword and search for a distinctive phrase, company, or reference inside a message. Use the email filter to focus the results.
To check a condition across messages and documents, try Agent, for example: “Find emails confirming a delivery date after 15 June.”
