Rename and organize with AI
Let Fenn suggest clearer names or a folder structure based on file content, then review the proposal before changing your files.
Rename files
Section titled “Rename files”- Select files in Fenn’s main window.
- Choose Rename with AI.
- Choose a naming rule when offered, or use the default.
- Use Preview on 1 file to check the style.
- Review the proposed names, then use Apply to all when they are right.
For invoices, a useful rule is “Start with the date, then the supplier and invoice number.” Create your own conventions in Personalization.
Organize a folder
Section titled “Organize a folder”Right-click a folder and choose Organize with AI. Choose By Content Topic to group files by what they contain.
Use Focus on specific field for a precise grouping, such as “client name”.
Select your destination and rule, then preview the proposed plan. Review the destinations and any duplicate-handling choices before Apply.
Start with a small folder so the proposal is easy to check.
These actions change your files
Section titled “These actions change your files”Renaming changes names on disk. Applying an organization plan can move or copy files according to the choices you made.
Read the plan before applying it. Check the result and use the workflow’s Undo option when offered if you need to reverse a recent operation. Keep backups for broader recovery.
A Magic Folder is a simpler option when you only want a collection of related files without reorganizing the originals.
